Zinc Pyrithione
Industrial Applications
Zinc Pyrithione is an antifungal and antibacterial agent widely used in personal care products, especially anti-dandruff shampoos and scalp treatments. It helps control fungal growth, including Malassezia species that contribute to dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, and provides anti-inflammatory effects to soothe and calm the scalp. Zinc Pyrithione is also incorporated into skin care products for acne and other conditions associated with microbial growth.
Physical Properties
Zinc Pyrithione appears as a pale yellow to off-white powder, with low solubility in water but good dispersibility in cosmetic formulations. It is chemically stable and compatible with a variety of surfactants, oils, and other personal care ingredients.
