Industrial Application
Tert-Butyl Peroxybenzoate is primarily used in the production of polystyrene, polyethylene, and other thermoplastic resins, as well as in crosslinking of rubbers and unsaturated polyesters. It is also applied as a catalyst in polymer modification and grafting reactions.
Physical Properties
Tert-Butyl Peroxybenzoate is an organic peroxide appearing as a clear to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic odor. It is thermally unstable and decomposes to release free radicals, making it highly effective as a polymerization initiator and curing agent.
