Industrial Applications
Sodium Periodate is a strong oxidizing agent widely used in industrial, chemical, and commercial applications. It is employed in organic synthesis for the oxidation of vicinal diols to aldehydes or ketones and for selective cleavage reactions. Physical Properties
Sodium Periodate is a white crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water and forms strongly oxidizing aqueous solutions. It is stable under normal conditions when stored in a dry, dark environment but decomposes upon heating or exposure to reducing agents. Sodium Periodate is non-volatile and hygroscopic, with strong oxidizing properties that require careful handling.
