Physical Properties
Platinum(IV) Chloride is an inorganic compound. It appears as a brown to reddish-brown crystalline solid and is odorless. The compound is thermally stable and decomposes upon strong heating, releasing chlorine. Platinum(IV) Chloride is sparingly soluble in cold water but reacts with hot water, and it dissolves more readily in concentrated hydrochloric acid to form chloroplatinate complexes. It is non-volatile, moisture-stable under normal handling conditions, and typically supplied as a dense crystalline powder.
