n-Propylbromide (n-PB) is widely used as a solvent in industrial applications such as vapor degreasing, metal cleaning, and dry cleaning. It also serves as a carrier solvent in adhesives and coatings, and as a chemical intermediate in organic synthesis for producing other specialty chemicals and halogenated compounds.
Physical Properties
n-Propylbromide is a colorless bromoalkane with a straight-chain three-carbon structure. It is hydrophobic, highly volatile, and soluble in many organic solvents. n-Propylbromide has a moderate boiling point, low viscosity, and reacts readily in nucleophilic substitution reactions, making it suitable for use in both laboratory and industrial settings.
