Industrial Applications
n-Propanol (1-Propanol) is widely used as a solvent in industrial and commercial applications. It is commonly employed in the pharmaceutical industry for dissolving resins, cellulose esters, and other organic compounds. n-Propanol is also used as a disinfecting agent, in coatings, inks, adhesives, and cleaning formulations, and as a chemical intermediate in the production of propyl-based compounds.
Physical Properties
n-Propanol is a colorless, flammable liquid with a mild alcohol odor. It is miscible with many organic solvents and moderately soluble in water. The compound has a moderate boiling point, low viscosity, and is chemically stable under normal conditions. Its flammability requires proper handling, storage, and safety precautions.
