Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid
Industrial Applications
Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA) is an anionic surfactant widely used in industrial and personal care applications. It serves as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and foaming agent in products such as drilling fluids, stimulation chemicals, cleaning formulations, industrial detergents, and shampoos. Its ability to reduce surface and interfacial tension improves fluid penetration, stabilizes emulsions, and enhances the removal of oil-based residues and scales from equipment and surfaces. LABSA is valued for its high efficiency, low cost, and biodegradability.
Physical Properties
LABSA is a dark brown, viscous liquid with a characteristic sulfonic odor. It is highly water-soluble when neutralized and exhibits excellent surface-active properties, including emulsification, foaming, and detergency. As an anionic, synthetic surfactant, it effectively reduces surface tension, emulsifies oils, and suspends soils in water, making it versatile for a range of industrial and cleaning applications.
