Glycol Stearate
Industrial Applications
Glycol Stearate is widely used in the personal care and cosmetic industry as a pearlizing agent, emulsifier, and skin-conditioning ingredient. It stabilizes oil-in-water emulsions in shampoos, body washes, lotions, and creams, preventing separation of oil and water phases. Additionally, it enhances the sensory experience of products by imparting a smooth, creamy texture and visually appealing pearlescent appearance.
Physical Properties
Glycol Stearate is a white to off-white waxy solid with low solubility in water but good solubility in oils and organic solvents. It has a melting point around 50–60°C and is chemically stable under normal formulation conditions. Its crystalline structure contributes to the pearlescent effect in formulations and helps improve the tactile feel of cosmetic and personal care products.
