Distearyl Methyl Amine
Industrial Applications
Distearyl Methyl Amine is primarily used in the manufacture of quaternary ammonium salts, which serve as fabric softeners, antistatic agents, and emulsifiers in personal care products and textile treatments. It also functions as a corrosion inhibitor, lubricant additive, and flotation agent due to its strong surface-active and hydrophobic properties.
Physical Properties
Distearyl Methyl Amine is a tertiary amine composed of two stearyl (C18) groups and one methyl group attached to a nitrogen atom. It appears as a waxy, white to pale yellow solid at room temperature with a faint amine-like odor. It is practically insoluble in water but soluble in alcohols, hydrocarbons, and other organic solvents.
