Industrial Applications
Di-Iso Butyl Carbinol (DIBC) is widely used as a frother in mineral flotation processes, particularly in the separation of copper, molybdenum, and other non-ferrous ores. It is also used as a solvent, intermediate in organic synthesis, and in certain specialty coatings and lubricant formulations.
Physical Properties
Di-Iso Butyl Carbinol (DIBC) is a branched-chain alcohol appearing as a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid with a mild characteristic odor. It is only slightly soluble in water but miscible with many organic solvents. Due to its hydrophobicity and low volatility, it is suitable for industrial applications requiring low water solubility.
