Dextrose
Food
Dextrose is a naturally occuring simple sugar and the D-isomer of glucose. It is commonly derived from starches, such as corn or wheat. Dextrose is highly soluble in water and is less sweet than sucrose. It is a readily available sugar source for fermentation in beer, wine, and yoghurt. It acts as a cryoprotectant in frozen foods, and is a humectant in baked goods.
