Cerium Chloride Solution is used across several industrial sectors as a versatile source of cerium ions. In organic synthesis, it functions as an effective Lewis acid catalyst, supporting reactions such as carbon–carbon bond formation. It is also employed in the manufacture of specialty glasses and ceramics, where it improves optical clarity, thermal stability, and mechanical strength. Physical Properties
Cerium Chloride Solution consists of cerium chloride salts dissolved in water, typically forming a clear to pale yellow liquid depending on concentration. It is highly soluble in water and other polar solvents. The solution is hygroscopic and readily absorbs moisture from the air. Cerium chloride is sensitive to oxidation, and solutions should be stored in tightly sealed containers to maintain stability and prevent changes in oxidation state.
