Carbomer
Industrial Applications
Carbomer is widely used as a thickening agent, gelling agent, and emulsion stabilizer. It is an essential component in many cosmetic and personal care products, including facial cleansers, moisturizers, hand sanitizers, toothpastes, and sunscreens, where it improves texture and product stability.
Physical Properties
Carbomer is a high-molecular-weight polymer of acrylic acid that forms a white, fluffy powder. It is highly hydrophilic, capable of absorbing and retaining large amounts of water to form gels. Carbomer is pH-sensitive, swelling in neutral to alkaline conditions, and is chemically stable under normal storage conditions.
