Industrial Application
Carbamide Peroxide is a stable inorganic peroxide commonly used as a bleaching and oxidizing agent in cosmetic and dental applications. It is widely employed in teeth whitening formulations, where it releases hydrogen peroxide gradually for safe and controlled oxidation of stains. In the coal industry, Carbamide Peroxide is used primarily as an oxidizing agent for coal purification and processing, rather than in extraction itself. Carbamide Peroxide is also used in hair bleaching and lightening products, providing effective and stable peroxide release. In addition, it finds limited use as a mild disinfectant and cleaning agent in personal care and hygiene products.
Physical Properties
Carbamide Peroxide is a white crystalline solid that is moderately soluble in water and insoluble in most organic solvents. It gradually releases hydrogen peroxide when dissolved in water, which is responsible for its bleaching and oxidizing action. The compound is stable under dry, cool, and well-ventilated storage conditions but should be kept away from heat, moisture, and incompatible materials. Due to its oxidizing nature, Carbamide Peroxide should be handled with care to maintain safety and chemical stability.
