Calcium Chloride
Industrial Applications
Calcium Chloride is widely used across industrial sectors due to its high solubility, hygroscopic nature, and ability to control moisture. It is commonly used for dust suppression, road stabilization, and de-icing in transportation and construction industries. In chemical manufacturing, it serves as a drying agent, pH adjuster, and process aid. Calcium Chloride is also used in water treatment, refrigeration brines, concrete acceleration, and as a desiccant in packaging and moisture control systems.
Physical Properties
Calcium Chloride is an inorganic calcium salt that appears as a white, crystalline solid. It is highly soluble in water and exothermically dissolves, releasing heat. The compound is strongly hygroscopic, readily absorbing moisture from the air and forming hydrates. It is stable under normal conditions, odorless, and available in anhydrous or hydrated forms such as dihydrate and hexahydrate.
