2-Allylphenol is used in the synthesis of resins, fragrances, antioxidants, and polymer additives, as well as an intermediate in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Its chemical reactivity, due to the phenolic hydroxyl group and reactive allyl side chain, allows for further functionalization in specialty chemical production.
Physical Properties
2-Allylphenol is an aromatic compound consisting of a phenolic ring substituted with an allyl group in the ortho position. It typically appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a phenolic odor, and is slightly soluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents.
