Industrial Applications
Benzotriazole is widely used in water treatment systems as a corrosion inhibitor. It is particularly effective in cooling towers, boiler systems, and industrial water circuits, where it forms a protective film on metal surfaces to prevent corrosion. It is also used in combination with other water treatment chemicals to enhance metal protection in closed-loop and open-loop systems.
Physical Properties
Benzotriazole is a heterocyclic, aromatic organic compound that typically appears as a pale yellow to white solid. It is sparingly soluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols and glycols. Benzotriazole is chemically stable under normal conditions and has a mild odor, making it suitable for long-term use in industrial water treatment applications.
