Octanamide
Industrial Applications
Octanamide is used in the production of lubricants, plastic additives, personal care products, and as a slip agent in polymer processing. In specialty chemical manufacturing, it is also used as an intermediate in surfactants and corrosion inhibitors. Its lubricating, thickening, and anti-caking properties make it valuable across these applications.
Physical Properties
Octanamide is a fatty acid amide derived from octanoic (caprylic) acid. It typically appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid or waxy material, has low solubility in water, and good solubility in organic solvents such as alcohols and chloroform. Octanamide is chemically stable under normal conditions.
