Industrial Applications
Nonylphenol Ethoxylates are widely used as nonionic surfactants in degreasers, hard surface cleaners, detergents, and disinfectants due to their strong cleaning performance and ability to solubilize oils and greases. They are also applied in drilling fluids, enhanced oil recovery, corrosion inhibitor formulations, and emulsifier packages, where they help stabilize oil-water mixtures, disperse solids, and reduce interfacial tension. In the personal care industry, they function as emulsifiers, detergents, dispersants, and solubilizers in products such as shampoos, conditioners, body washes, facial cleansers, cosmetic creams, lotions, and hair dyes.
Physical Properties
Nonylphenol Ethoxylates are formed by reacting nonylphenol with ethylene oxide, resulting in viscous liquids or waxy solids depending on the degree of ethoxylation. They typically range in color from pale yellow to amber and are soluble in both water and organic solvents.
