Industrial Applications
N-(2-Hydroxyethyl) Piperidine is used as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, corrosion inhibitors, and surfactants. It is also employed in resin modification, polymer synthesis, and as a chemical building block in specialty coatings and adhesives where both amine and alcohol groups can participate in reactions.
Physical Properties
N-(2-Hydroxyethyl) Piperidine is a heterocyclic secondary amine consisting of a piperidine ring substituted at the nitrogen atom with a 2-hydroxyethyl group. It is typically a clear to pale yellow liquid with a mild amine odor and is miscible with water and many organic solvents. The hydroxyl functionality enhances its reactivity.
