Linseed Fatty Acid
Linseed Fatty Acid is a natural mixture of fatty acids primarily derived from linseed (flaxseed) oil, rich in unsaturated fatty acids such as linolenic, linoleic, and oleic acids. It typically appears as a pale yellow to amber viscous liquid or soft solid, with a characteristic mild fatty odor. The mixture is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents like alcohol and hydrocarbons. In industry, linseed fatty acid is used in the manufacture of paints, varnishes, soaps, lubricants, plasticizers, and as an intermediate for producing surfactants, emulsifiers, and additives in coatings and adhesives. Its drying properties make it especially valuable in producing drying oils and alkyd resins.
