Di- Iso Butyl Carbinol
Di- Iso Butyl Carbinol (DIBC) is a branched-chain alcohol appearing as a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid with a mild characteristic odor. It is only slightly soluble in water but miscible with many organic solvents. Due to its hydrophobicity and low volatility, DIBC is widely used in industry as a frother in mineral flotation processes, particularly in the separation of copper, molybdenum, and other non-ferrous ores. It is also used as a solvent, intermediate in organic synthesis, and in certain specialty coatings and lubricant formulations.
