Dilauroyl Peroxide
Dilauroyl Peroxide is an organic peroxide consisting of two lauroyl groups linked by a peroxide bond. It is typically a white to off-white crystalline solid or powder and is insoluble in water but soluble in many organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and hydrocarbons. As a free-radical initiator, it is widely used in industry for polymerization reactions, particularly in the production of polystyrene, polyethylene, and other vinyl polymers. It also finds application in crosslinking, curing of resins, and as a vulcanizing agent in rubber processing. Due to its reactive peroxide bond, it must be handled with care and stored under controlled conditions to prevent decomposition.
