Industrial Applications
Demethicone is a silicone-based synthetic compound widely used in the personal care and cosmetic industries. It functions as an emollient, skin protectant, conditioning agent, and anti-foaming agent. Beyond personal care, it is incorporated in industrial formulations where lubrication, water repellency, or surface conditioning is required, such as in coatings, polishes, and mold release agents.
Physical Properties
Demethicone is a clear, colorless, and odorless silicone fluid or gel. It has low surface tension, is chemically inert, and is insoluble in water but soluble in many organic solvents. It exhibits excellent thermal stability, oxidative stability, and a smooth, silky texture, making it ideal for use in topical and cosmetic formulations.
