Di(3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl) Peroxide
Di(3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl) Peroxide is an organic peroxide appearing as a clear to pale yellow liquid with a faint odor. As a dialkyl peroxide, it is thermally unstable and must be handled under controlled conditions, typically supplied in a phlegmatized form (diluted with a stabilizer such as a plasticizer) to ensure safety. In industry, it is primarily used as a free radical initiator in polymerization processes, especially for polyethylene and polypropylene, and as a crosslinking agent to improve mechanical and thermal properties of elastomers, polyolefins, and other polymer systems. It is also applied in the curing of unsaturated polyester resins.
