Diethanolamine
Industrial Applications
Diethanolamine (DEA) is a versatile organic amine used in numerous industrial applications. It functions as a surfactant, emulsifier, pH adjuster, and buffering agent, making it valuable in the manufacture of personal care products, lubricants, gas treatment chemicals, and textile processing agents. Diethanolamine is also used to stabilize formulations, improve texture, and enhance the solubility of various ingredients in creams, lotions, and industrial cleaning solutions.
Physical Properties
Diethanolamine (DEA) is a colorless to pale yellow, viscous liquid with a mild amine odor. It is highly soluble in water and miscible with many polar organic solvents. Diethanolamine has both hydroxyl and amine functional groups, which contribute to its hygroscopic nature, basicity, and ability to form salts and derivatives for diverse applications.
