Propionitrile
Propionitrile is a colorless, flammable liquid characterized by a faint, acrid odor. It is miscible with most organic solvents while being slightly soluble in water. In industry, propionitrile is primarily used as a solvent, chemical intermediate, and reagent in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and rubber chemicals. It also serves as a precursor for the production of propionamide, propionic acid derivatives, and certain nitrile-based polymers.
