Acetic Acid Glacial
Industrial Applications
Acetic Acid Glacial is widely used across multiple industries due to its strong acidity and excellent solvating ability. It serves as an essential raw material in the production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), acetic anhydride, and various acetate esters used in adhesives, coatings, and plastics. In the chemical and manufacturing sectors, glacial acetic acid functions as a solvent for inks, resins, and coatings, and as a reagent for esterification and acetylation processes. It is also used in textile dyeing, rubber processing, and as a descaling agent in industrial cleaning formulations.
Physical Properties
Acetic Acid Glacial is a clear, colorless liquid with a strong, pungent vinegar-like odor. It is an anhydrous form of acetic acid containing less than 1% water. The compound has a melting point of approximately 16.6°C, causing it to solidify into ice-like crystals at cooler room temperatures. It has a boiling point near 118°C and is fully miscible with water, alcohols, and many organic solvents. Acetic Acid Glacial is corrosive, hygroscopic, and exhibits strong acidic behavior, making proper handling and storage essential.
