Industrial Applications
Decyl Alcohol is a straight-chain fatty alcohol widely used in personal care and cosmetic formulations as an emollient, surfactant intermediate, and emulsifier. It is commonly incorporated into creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, and other skin and hair care products to improve texture, stability, and moisturizing properties. Industrially, it is also used in lubricants, detergents, and as a chemical intermediate in the production of esters and other specialty chemicals.
Physical Properties
Decyl Alcohol is a colorless to light yellow viscous liquid with a mild aromatic odor. It is insoluble in water but soluble in many organic solvents. The compound can permeate the skin and may cause irritation at high concentrations. Decyl Alcohol is chemically stable under normal conditions and exhibits low volatility, making it suitable for a range of industrial and cosmetic applications.
