Beta-Carotene (β-Carotene) is widely used as a natural colorant and nutrient additive in the food and beverage industry, including in beverages, baked goods, dairy products, and processed foods. It is also incorporated into personal care products such as moisturizers, sunscreens, and hair care formulations for its antioxidant properties, skin protection against UV radiation, and hair-strengthening benefits.
Physical Properties
Beta-Carotene is an organic carotenoid pigment with a strong red-orange color. It is fat-soluble, crystalline, and exhibits antioxidant activity. Its molecular structure allows it to act as a precursor to vitamin A in humans and animals, making it an essential nutrient. Beta-Carotene is stable under normal conditions but can degrade when exposed to light, heat, or oxygen.
