Platinum(0) Divinyltetramethylsiloxane Complex
Industrial Applications
Platinum(0) Divinyltetramethylsiloxane Complex is an organometallic catalyst widely used in silicone chemistry, particularly in hydrosilylation reactions. As a highly efficient platinum catalyst, it promotes the addition of Si–H groups across carbon–carbon double bonds, enabling the crosslinking and curing of silicone elastomers, gels, and sealants. This catalyst offers excellent activity at low concentrations and provides consistent curing performance, making it valuable in the production of adhesives, coatings, encapsulants, and high-performance silicone materials.
Physical Properties
This complex typically appears as a clear to pale yellow liquid or viscous solution. It is soluble in many silicone-compatible organic solvents and exhibits high thermal stability. The complex consists of platinum(0) coordinated to divinyltetramethylsiloxane ligands, which stabilize the metal center and improve its miscibility within silicone formulations. Due to its sensitivity to contaminants such as amines, sulfur compounds, and phosphines, it must be handled carefully to maintain catalytic activity.
