Calcium Tungstate
Industrial Applications
Calcium Tungstate is widely used as a precursor in the production of tungsten-based materials, including tungsten trioxide, ferrotungsten, alloy steels, cemented carbides, tungsten powders, tungsten wires, and tungsten alloys. Its luminescent properties make it valuable in optical and electronic applications such as scintillation detectors, X-ray screens, and lighting phosphors. Additionally, Calcium Tungstate can act as a heterogeneous catalyst, particularly for the oxidation of organic substrates using hydrogen peroxide.
Physical Properties
Calcium tungstate is an inorganic compound that crystallizes in the scheelite structure. It typically appears as a white crystalline powder. The material exhibits strong luminescence and thermoluminescence, which contribute to its use in optical devices. It has high thermal stability, good chemical resistance, and a high density typical of tungsten-containing minerals. Calcium Tungstate is sparingly soluble in water and stable under normal environmental conditions.
