Industrial Applications
Potassium Iodide (KI) is widely used across industrial, nutritional, and pharmaceutical applications. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to treat hyperthyroidism, as a protective agent for the thyroid during radiological procedures, and in iodine supplementation. In nutrition and food applications, Potassium Iodide is used to fortify table salt and animal feed. Additionally, it finds use in environmental and chemical applications as a reagent, in photographic chemicals, and in certain laboratory syntheses.
Physical Properties
Potassium Iodide (KI) is a white, crystalline, water-soluble solid with no odor. It is chemically stable under normal conditions and exhibits low volatility. It is highly soluble in water, moderately soluble in glycerol, and slightly soluble in alcohols.
