Liquefied Phenol
Industrial Applications
Liquefied Phenol is a viscous liquid. In its liquid form, Phenol is hygroscopic and soluble in alcohol, ether, and water. Phenol has antiseptic, analgesic, and disinfectant properties. It is commonly used as a topical antiseptic for cleaning wounds and cuts. Additionally, Liquefied Phenol is used as a local anesthetic in dental and throat treatments. It also has antimicrobial properties and can be used as a preservative in pharmaceuticals. Liquefied Phenol can be used in chemical peeling treatments to treat acne scares and age spots.
Physical Properties
Liquefied Phenol is a clear to pale pink, viscous liquid that is highly hygroscopic and has a distinct phenolic odor. It is soluble in alcohol, ether, and water, forming strongly acidic solutions. Phenol has a moderate melting point and remains liquid when stabilized at temperatures just above its solidification point. It exhibits strong antiseptic, analgesic, and caustic properties due to its ability to denature proteins. The compound is reactive, especially with oxidizing agents and bases, and must be handled under controlled conditions to prevent solidification and degradation.
