Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) is widely used as a solvent in industrial and laboratory settings. It is commonly employed in the formulation of paints, varnishes, adhesives, gums, and rubber products. Methyl Isobutyl Ketone is also used as an extraction solvent in chemical processing, in coatings, and in the production of synthetic resins.
Physical Properties
Methyl Isobutyl Ketone is a colorless liquid with a characteristic solvent odor. It is moderately soluble in water, highly soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and hydrocarbons, and has a boiling point of approximately 117°C. It exhibits good chemical stability under normal storage and handling conditions.
