Caprylyl Glycol is a synthetic aliphatic diol valued for its multifunctional role in personal care and industrial formulations. It functions primarily as an emollient and humectant, helping to soften and hydrate the skin by attracting and retaining moisture. In formulations such as moisturizers, creams, and serums, Caprylyl Glycol also acts as a skin-conditioning agent and preservative booster, enhancing the efficacy of antimicrobial systems. Beyond personal care, it is used in specialty chemical formulations where moisturizing, stabilizing, or antimicrobial enhancement is required.
Physical Properties
Caprylyl Glycol is a colorless to slightly yellow, viscous liquid with a mild odor. It is moderately soluble in water and highly soluble in alcohols and glycols. Its amphiphilic nature allows it to improve the spreadability and texture of formulations while maintaining stability across a wide range of pH and temperatures.
