Corylus Avellana Seed Oil (Hazelnut)
Industrial Applications
Corylus Avellana Seed Oil (Hazelnut) is a refined natural nut oil used in the food and personal care industries. Food-grade hazelnut oil adds a rich, nutty flavor and aroma to cookies, cakes, muffins, sauces and salad dressings. Its pronounced flavor works especially well with milder ingredients that let its nutty notes stand out. In cosmetic and personal care products, hazelnut oil serves as a carrier oil and contributes a subtle nutty scent. Its emollient properties help moisturize and nourish the skin.
Physical Properties
Corylus Avellana Seed Oil (Hazelnut) is a yellow to light brown oily liquid with a slight nutty odor and taste. It is insoluble in water and soluble in lipophilic solvents. The oil is rich in triglycerides containing oleic fatty acid residues, with smaller amounts of linoleic, palmitic, and stearic residues. Its refractive index is 1.467–1.473 at 20°C. Its smooth, oily texture provides emollient and carrier properties in creams, lotions, massage oils, and other topical formulations.
