Croptonic Acid

Manufacturing

Croptonic acid, also known as tiglic acid, is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a pungent, unpleasant odor. It is an unsaturated carboxylic acid found naturally in some plants and insects. Croptonic acid is used primarily in organic synthesis as an intermediate for the production of pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and agricultural chemicals. Its reactive double bond and carboxyl group make it useful for chemical modifications and polymer production.
