Ceramides
Industrial Applications
Ceramides are a family of naturally occurring lipid molecules found in the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of human skin. They are widely used in personal care products to help restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier function, lock in moisture, and improve overall skin health. Ceramides are commonly incorporated into moisturizers, cleansers, shampoos, and barrier creams.
Physical Properties
Ceramides typically appear as white to off-white waxy powders or as lipid blends in formulations. They are lipophilic, making them highly compatible with oils and emulsions, which allows them to integrate effectively into creams, lotions, and hair care products.
