Beeswax is a versatile natural wax used across multiple industries. In cosmetics and personal care, it functions as an emulsifier, thickening agent, and stabilizer in creams, lotions, lip balms, and hair care products. It is also utilized in food processing as a coating or glazing agent, in candles and polishes, and in pharmaceuticals as a binder or protective coating for tablets.
Physical Properties
Beeswax is a yellow, solid wax with a characteristic mild honey-like odor. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents and oils. Beeswax has a melting point typically between 62–64°C, is non-toxic, and possesses emollient, thickening, and stabilizing properties, making it ideal for personal care and industrial formulations.
