Octanamide

Octanamide is a fatty acid amide derived from octanoic (caprylic) acid. It typically appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid or waxy material, low solubility in water, and good solubility in organic solvents such as alcohols and chloroform. Octanamide is chemically stable and exhibits lubricating, thickening, and anti-caking properties, making it useful in the production of lubricants, plastic additives, personal care products, and as a slip agent in polymer processing. In specialty chemical manufacturing, it is also used as an intermediate in surfactants and corrosion inhibitors.
