Industrial Applications
Di-Stearyl Amine is used in water treatment as a corrosion inhibitor and antiscalant. Its strong hydrophobicity allows it to adsorb onto metal surfaces, forming a protective, non-polar barrier that helps prevent oxidative and acid corrosion in cooling towers and closed-loop water circuits. It also aids in foam control and sludge conditioning in wastewater systems.
Physical Properties
Di-Stearyl Amine is a long-chain secondary amine composed of two stearyl (C18) groups bonded to a nitrogen atom. It typically appears as a white to light yellow waxy solid or soft paste with a mild fatty odor. It is practically insoluble in water but soluble in alcohols, hydrocarbons, and other organic solvents.
