Tallow Amine 2 EO
Oil and Gas
Tallow Amine 2 EO is an ethoxylated primary fatty amine derived from tallow, containing approximately two ethylene oxide (EO) units. It typically appears as a pale yellow, viscous liquid with a mild amine odor. It is partially soluble in water and fully soluble in alcohols, hydrocarbons, and other organic solvents. The combination of long-chain saturated and unsaturated C16–C18 alkyl groups from tallow and two EO units gives it both hydrophobic and hydrophilic characteristics, making it an effective nonionic co-surfactant with slight cationic behavior. In the oil and gas industry, Tallow Amine 2 EO is commonly used as a corrosion inhibitor, emulsifier, wetting agent, and asphaltene dispersant. It adsorbs well onto metal surfaces, forming protective films that reduce corrosion, and stabilizes emulsions in drilling fluids, production chemicals, and crude oil transport systems.
