Oleyl Diamine
Industrial Applications
Oleyl Diamine is a surfactant widely used as a corrosion inhibitor, emulsifier, and as a component in asphaltene dispersants, demulsifiers, and scale inhibitors. Its ability to adsorb strongly onto metal surfaces and form a hydrophobic film makes it particularly effective for protecting downhole equipment and pipelines from corrosion while stabilizing emulsions and improving fluid compatibility in production systems.
Physical Properties
Oleyl Diamine is a pale yellow to amber viscous liquid with a mild amine-like odor. It is insoluble in water but soluble in alcohols, glycols, and hydrocarbons. Its structure features a long-chain unsaturated hydrocarbon tail and a flexible 1,3-diaminopropane backbone, providing strong surface activity and the ability to form protective hydrophobic films on metal surfaces.
