Oleic Acid
Industrial Applications
Oleic Acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid extensively used across industrial and personal care applications. It serves as an emulsifier, surfactant, lubricant additive, plasticizer, and corrosion inhibitor. Oleic Acid is also a key raw material in the production of soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, and acts as an intermediate for synthesizing esters and amides in a variety of formulations.
Physical Properties
Oleic Acid appears as a clear to pale yellow oily liquid at room temperature with a mild fatty odor. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. It contains a cis-double bond at the ninth carbon atom, characteristic of monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acids.
