N-Methyldiethanolamine
Industrial Applications
In the oil and gas industry, N-Methyldiethanolamine is widely used in gas treating processes for the selective removal of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from natural gas and refinery streams. It is valued for its high chemical stability, low vapor pressure, and favorable absorption characteristics. Additionally, it is used as an emulsifier, a component in corrosion inhibitors, and as an intermediate in the formulation of specialty oilfield chemicals. N-Methyldiethanolamine is also utilized in water treatment system for pH control.
Physical Properties
N-Methyldiethanolamine is a clear, colorless to pale yellow, hygroscopic liquid with a slight amine-like odor. It is completely miscible with water and many organic solvents and contains both tertiary amine and hydroxyl functional groups.
