N-Methyl Morpholine Oxide
N-Methylmorpholine N-oxide (NMMO) is an amine oxide compound typically appearing as a white crystalline solid. It is highly soluble in water, hygroscopic, and stable under neutral conditions, and strong oxidizing properties. In industry, NMMO is best known as a cellulose solvent in the Lyocell fiber production process, enabling the environmentally friendly manufacturing of regenerated cellulose textiles. It is also used as a mild oxidizing agent in organic synthesis and as a catalyst or co-oxidant in certain chemical transformations.
