Cyclohexyl Amine
Oil and Gas
Cyclohexylamine is an aliphatic, secondary amine typically appearing as a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid with a strong, fishy odor. It is slightly less dense than water and is fully miscible with most organic solvents. In the oil and gas industry, cyclohexylamine is widely used as a volatile corrosion inhibitor in boiler water and steam systems, where it helps neutralize acidic gases (like CO₂) and protects condensate lines by forming a passivating film on metal surfaces. It is also used in the synthesis of oilfield chemicals, flotation agents, and rubber-processing additives due to its strong basicity and compatibility with a variety of industrial formulations.
