2-Bromoethanol is a colorless to dark brown liquid. It can be used to reduce nitroarenes, and it is water soluble. 2-Bromoethanol is a widely used industrial chemical. It can be used to prepare 2-bromoethyl glycosides from acetylated sugars, and it can be used as a reagent to synthesize 2-bromoethyl methoxymethyl ether. It is used as a solvent and organic synthetic raw material.
