1,2-Hexanediol is a colorless, odorless diol commonly used in personal care and cosmetic formulations for its multifunctional properties. It serves as a humectant, emollient, solvent, and preservative booster, improving both the texture and microbial stability of products. Due to its mildness, low toxicity, and non-irritating characteristics, 1,2-Hexanediol is widely incorporated into facial creams, cleansers, hair conditioners, and baby care items. In industrial formulations, it is also used as a co-solvent and stabilizing agent in emulsions and surfactant systems.

1,2-Hexanediol appears as a clear, colorless liquid with a faint characteristic odor. It is moderately soluble in water and miscible with many organic solvents, such as alcohols and glycols.
